Consideration of Representation and Stereotyping

We are representing the villain in our film as quite sinister and mysterious. This will conform to the usual stereotype of villains. The villain will be a male. This is conforming to the stereotype of men being more powerful- he is the murderer, not the victim. He has full control of the situation which shows he has all the power which again, conforms to the stereotype of men being more powerful than women. This therefore means that the female victim is conforming to the stereotype of women being weak and vulnerable. Just the fact she is alone in the woods shows she is quite vulnerable. Also, as she has no idea what is about to happen it could perhaps represent her as quite ditsy and unaware. This then conforms to the stereotype of women being much weaker than men. However, we have not subverted the stereotype in any way as we have only conformed to the stereotype.
